Bloggers

Several weeks ago MYX TV put up and ad looking for paid bloggers to represent the Asian youth market and literally hundreds of people applied and this week you’ll get to meet them. Check them out, we know you’ll like them. They’ll be (v)blogging about everything ranging from music to movies, to fashion and politics.

After you read their bios, come back everyday to see who else we chose. At the end of the week MYX TV will unveil the entire roster. Let us know who you like, who you dislike, which posts are cool, and which posts are whack!

Blogger: Alana Garcia – Location: Queens, New York

alana Bio:Hey y’all! It’s Alana (uh-lawn-uh), a 23-year-old west coast native from Seattle, Washington. I recently moved into the big apple to chase after my dreams of becoming a television personality. But for the mean time, I’m working as an intern at an advertising agency.

To help you guys get to know me better, I thought of my 10 most random facts:

  1. I eat chicken every day (yes, every day).
  2. I was born with two cowlicks on my head.
  3. My arms and legs are double jointed.
  4. I’m a food and movie junkie.
  5. I have no tonsils (removed or born that way? HmMmm).
  6. Reality shows and celebrity gossip are my guilty pleasures.
  7. I’m the Tetris queen.
  8. I know every Britney dance BEFORE she shaved her head.
  9. Like Nemo, I also have a lucky fin.
  10. I’m the jerkin’ master. Don’t believe me? Check out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NjCkZIThSPM

Blogger: Chris Lau – Location: New York (city withheld for confidentiality purposes)

chris Bio: Hi, thanks for diverting your browser from the porn for a minute to look at my profile. I can’t really compete with hot girl on girl action, but hopefully you’ll stay just a little while. In fact, if it’s skin you’re looking for, there is a picture of my ass somewhere on here. There are also rumors of my buttocks on my YouTube channel: http://www.youtube.com/cakalusa. But there is so much more to this profile than just my ass: you’ll find witty little answers to questions I didn’t make up, short statements about what other people think of me and pictures of me with people who are more attractive.

Here’s the boring stuff. I’m a 20-something year old Asian male living in New York (you might find plenty here). After graduating college, someone decided to hire me for graphics and design (those suckers). I also have a side business in media and video game production. Check us out at http://www.powstudios.com.

So leave me a comment and maybe I’ll get ya one back. Who knows?

Blogger: Arika Sato – Location: Los Angeles

arika Bio: Hi guys! My name is Arika Sato, and I know that sounds like a name from an Anime, but it’s my real name. I was born in Torrance, CA and went to college at UCSD, hah, even more Asian right? It gets even more intense….Now, I am getting my masters degree at University of Southern California in Broadcast Journalism. But I promise, I am not THAT nerdy.

In my free time, I like to be a girly-girl, and do make-up, and get my hair and nails done at fancy Beverly Hills salons and shop at L.A.’s trendiest boutiques. And I do some modeling, but I definitely am far from a Heidi Klum or Kate Moss. I am also a gadget freak. While handling my iPhone, Macbook Pro, and Flipcam all at the same time, I like to attend tech shows like CES and do gadget reviews on different shows. You can find me on Maxim.com and Spike TV reviewing gadgets and hosting shows, and I also have hosted game conventions for gaming websites such as UfragTV and GirlGamer. I never miss a Comic-Con, E3, or Anime Expo either!

Other weird hobbies I have are arts and crafts and bedazzling everything I see. You will notice the microphone I carry with me everywhere is a Swarovski crystal masterpiece with my initials on them. I like to work out and dance and sing to Britney Spears, Ke$ha, and Nicki Minaj, and sometimes rap to Lil Wayne but I sound awful when I do that. I like to write, but I also like to party. Oh yea, and you might remember me from being on MTV’s Paris Hilton’s My New BFF where I got kicked off by kissing a guy, lol. At least they called me a “princess” though. Although I still don’t know if that’s a good thing. :) Other than that, if I still interest you, then you should definitely follow me on my MYX blog, because I can be funny sometimes. :) xoxo arika

Blogger: Phil Chao – Location: Toronto, ON, Canada

phil Bio: Hey there! Thanks for checking me out! Don’t bother adjusting your screen, i’m actually Asian.. I’m also Canadian so forgive me if I speak/write a little differently than you, eh? I currently reside in Toronto and have lived here my whole life so I’m polite and attractive by nature. I look forward to sharing my opinions and views with you as I have many and I like to talk.

I got started on the internet world over two years ago with online broadcasting and I quickly found out that I have a knack for comedy and dancing terribly. Since then, I have been building my audience and network and I’m proud to say that I have met and worked with most of the major Asian-American internet celebrities that you know and love!

Blogger: Juhung Kim – Location: St. Louis, Missouri

juhung Bio: What is happening everyone!? My name is Juhyung Kim, but call me Ju for short. If you feel uncomfortable calling me a Jew and prefer

addressing me by my full name, then my name is pronounced,”Jew-Young.ā€

Anywhoo I’m a 20 year old Korean male living in St. Louis, Missouri. There’s not much excitement here, so I try to have fun in other ways by making videos in my bedroom. You can check those out on Youporn…I mean Youtube at http://www.youtube.com/theasianzing.

Currently I’m in college training to be a PT: Physical therapist (and/or PokĆ©mon trainer). I enjoy playing sports, but I suck at that so sometimes I just resort to playing Wii sports. Once I graduate college I hope to keep having fun in the world while staying positive. Hopefully my vlogs will be short, sweet, and entertaining. It’ll be a great way to connect with you guys and be engaging. Looking forward to everything that’s gonna go down!

Blogger:Christian Hermida – Location: San Diego, CA

christian Bio: My name is Christian Hermida and I’m a singer/DJ/online personality born and raised in San Diego, CA. In addition to my busy professional life, I continue to pursue my college education in Television/Film Production. Balancing between running my DJ/Entertainment business ā€œEksena Entertainmentā€, my new online brand ā€œStirFry Mediaā€, performing, and going to college has not been an easy feat.

However, I’m excited to be an official MYX blogger/vlogger and to be a part of the team! My goal here is to entice and empower Asian-Americans, especially the younger generation who are currently in high school or college. I am a media junkie, and I want to bring a huge interactive aspect to MYX TV. I am really friendly, and love to get involved with my followers/readers and encourage interactions through digital media! So don’t be shy!

I also post videos to my YouTube channel, where you can watch me sing or review products. I’d like to give a special thanks to my photographer Ingrid Urena (Penguin Designing) for taking my lovely profile photo!

Blogger:Nikki Desuasido – Location: San Francisco Bay Area

nikki Bio: Hey what’s up! My name is Nikki Desuasido and I am very excited to be a part of MYX!

I graduated from San Francisco State University with a Speech & Communications degree and an emphasis in performance. I have attended numerous Tony Robbins seminars like Unleash the Power Within and Date With Destiny- all which have heavily influenced and shaped the way I live.

I have worked with ABS-CBN since 2005 on many different projects. I was a host for a travel reality show called “Strut Remix”, where we presented and reviewed various adventures, such as hang gliding over Mount Tamalpais or swimming with whalphins (half whale, half dolphin) in Hawaii. I also did a few commercials with Startec Global Communications, was an extra for a popular TV Drama “Maalaala Mo Kaya”, and assisted with the production of “Adobo Nation” a weekly magazine talk program.

Though I was born and raised in Daly City, CA and have lived in the San Francisco Bay Area my whole life, I am fortunate to have traveled to the Philippines, Hong Kong, Japan, Italy, Paris, Israel, and around the US.

I am a free spirit, playful, and love to have fun. I have the greatest friends, the best family, and a promising future ahead of me. At this point in my life I can say I am extremely blessed, and I thank the universe every chance that I get.

Blogger:Harvey Ranola – Location: La Habra, CA

harvy Bio: I’ve got almost three decades worth of life experiences, so with a little help from Wikipedia, I’m pretty much an expert on everything. If I don’t know what I’m talking about, I’ll keep talking until it sounds like I do, and if it’s still not working out, I just pause the camera and set it up for another take. My grooming habits include cutting my own hair because I’d rather not pay someone $15 bucks to make it look like I just got out of bed and shoved a butter knife into a power outlet. Hair product? It’s called lotion, and its uses are only limited by your imagination.

Now get your head out of the gutter and check out my latest videos at www.youtube.com/harveyranola and read my latest tweets at www.twitter.com/harvey_ranola because you know you’d rather not finish that homework assignment you’ve been putting off ā€˜til the last minute.
