I’ve seen many comedy shows in the past and they are all somewhat the same. Those comedy shows have hilarious jokes and abilities to make the audience laugh at any given moment. You know what you are going to get when you attend a comedy show. Forgetting the Details was a comedy show like I’ve never seen before. This show was hilarious, riveting, and funny. What made this show different than the others was the substance and positive things that you can take with you after the show. Yes, there is profanity just like any other comedy show, but the amount of passion and emotion in this particular show was enthralling. Forgetting the Details was written and performed by Nicole Maxali, she is a Filipino-American comedian and performer from Bay Area, CA. She has been performed alongside many legendary comedians like Dave Chappelle and many more.

Nicole Maxali is a one-woman show in this unique experience. There are no other cast members other than herself, but it feels like there is a full cast on stage with her. Maxali’s style is very brave and unique. She has a very talented and fluid way of transitioning from character to another. The play goes by very smoothly and I was impressed on the way she can make you feel happy and full of laughter, but two seconds later made you think deeply about life and your loved ones. The main inspiration of the play is Maxali’s grandmother and her battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. The whole play is inspired by her experiences with her grandmother or lack thereof. The show is very deep and funny at the same time. You will be filled with laughter and deep emotion in the span of 30-seconds. This show is very detailed and has a lot to offer. It will not disappoint and you will not regret your experience watching it. There are a lot of surprising moments in in it and I did not get into “detail” because I refuse to spoil it for future viewers. I took with me a lot of useful insight on life and made me appreciate life more. Forgetting the Details is captivating and will leave you wanting more. Nicole Maxali’s Forgetting the Details is overall a must-see.
